Which Came First...

The chicken or the egg?

In our case, it was the chicken.  Today we built a chicken coop to house the newest members of our backyard....

If you put on your spectacles, you can see the six chicks huddled in the bottom right corner. This breed of chicken is especially good for laying eggs (perfect) and eating (perfect).  The plan is to let them lay eggs for a year (maybe two because they are so young right now) then take these ones to the fryer and get another batch to start the cycle over again.  The kids know this and understand the plan.  They are excited for fresh eggs and chicken when the time comes.  They have given the chicks the following names; Orange Blossom, Prancer, Marker Girl, Dancer, Chick-a-Dee, and Crispy.

Don't worry, this little one survived the photo shoot.  Barely.

Both kids are excited about the responsibility of collecting eggs and giving the chickens fresh water and food.  We'll see how long that lasts!

Lilian. Oh Lilian.

What ever are we going to do with our sweet Lilian?  She has a new boyfriend.  Who draws her pictures at school.

They are in love.  As you can see by the impressive heart Caden put in front of his name.

Easter

We had a nice Easter this year.

The bunny even made a stop at our house...

We colored eggs...

And enjoyed our treats and good food.

The weather was perfect and we were so happy to be able to spend the whole day outside!  The kids can never get enough of the egg hunts.  Or carrot cake.

No Greater Love

Grandma and Grandad took us to No Greater Love last night in preparation for Easter.

We had wonderful seats, right on the aisle, next to the orchestra.

It was a wonderful performance, as usual.  The kids especially enjoyed the camel.  And the donkey.  And the lambs.

Thank you Grandma and Grandad for a great night out!

Toothless Wonders

Our baby boy is growing up too fast...

He couldn't wait for the tooth fairy to pay him a visit.  And, she didn't disappoint this little boy.  He got a letter congratulating him and a gold coin.

He was thrilled and sat down right away to write her a thank you note.

Lilian has been running around trying to figure out how to make one of her teeth loose now :o)
